Early Childhood

Our Lady of Mount Carmel has a strong commitment to provide a progressive and consistently high-quality Early Childhood Education where the needs of both the children and the families are met. We believe Early Childhood Education is developmental and caters for the child’s physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural development.

As part of our teaching philosophy, we adhere to the Western Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework, ‘Belonging, Being and Becoming’. These form the basis for all programming and planning practises, allowing educators to promote and assess children’s learning and wellbeing.

At our school we offer one full-day Three-Year-Old Kindergarten Program on a Thursday, as well as a three day a week Four-Year-Old Kindergarten Program from Monday to Wednesday.

We strive to build a positive partnership between home and school. We acknowledge the huge amount of learning that you have fostered in your child and we aim to build and nurture that to develop students who are lifelong learners and valued and responsible members of our society. We will endeavour to nurture the potential of all members in an environment that values self-worth, relationships, and resilience.

The school environment reinforces teaching in the early years by being stimulating, balanced and well-resourced, providing opportunities that encourage children to take ‘safe’ risks and develop resilience. We aim to create a welcoming environment where all families are respected and actively encouraged to contribute.
